Hungry Zombie Cometh Home

Okay, so I know I dropped off the face of the Earth without so much as a "smell ya later."  What can I say?  Sometimes life gives you lemons, sometimes it gives you lemonade and sometimes it punches you square in the face.  I had a couple of face-punching years and blogging was last on my long list of priorities.

I lost my mother very suddenly a year ago.  One day I was talking to her about inconsequential things and a week later I had to make the decision to remove her from life support.  Maybe someday I'll elaborate on how it all happened, but right now it still feels raw.

I also had a total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, after I was diagnosed with two large (ultimately) benign uterine tumours.  Although, I could have had only the tumours removed, I opted to lose all the plumbing since there is a history of uterine, cervical and ovarian cancer in my family.  Although I was totally on board with having the surgery, and I now feel better than I have in many years, the recuperation is difficult.  Even though it's been almost six months, I'm still dealing with swelling, some discomfort and the difficulty of getting back into shape. But, I will persevere.

So, over the last three years, there was not a lot of sewing going on in the HZC household.  Lately,  however, I have been feeling the old creative desires reemerging and I have been spending time in my sewing room.  I hope to show the fruits of my labours in the near future.  So, stay tuned...

"Waving hello". It's good to see you posting again. Please accept my sympathies on the loss of your Mom. To lose her so suddenly....I just can't imagine. I hope your health continues to improve and if you are still teaching, best of luck in the new school year

Tough, tough times, Shannon, but it is a delight to see you back in the blogging world. I lost my dad very suddenly and the shock was overwhelming. I am so sorry to hear the news about your mother and hope that happier memories can be a comfort. And also best wishes on your recovery. Ouch, ouch.

I am very sorry about your Mom. I lost my father very suddenly and can say that as time passes you will remember the happy times and the grief pain gets less. I had to have a complete hysterectomy at the age of 31 due to several issuesd. After the recovery I can say that I felt better than in many years. Best wishes to you. I really enjoy your blog.

So glad to see you back. Life is sometimes the challenge we don't want to face. Give yourself time to heal, physically and otherwise. I can't wait to see your sewing when you feel up to it.

Welcome back, it's so good to see you! I'm so very sorry about the loss of your mom, I've been there through the shock of having lunch on Monday and saying a final goodbye on Friday. It's rough. Give yourself time to heal but spend time doing things that bring you joy. I'm sure you'll find yourself feeling more "normal", or adjusting to the "new normal".

I'm so sorry about your mom. That is really a shock to the system, and nothing really helps except for time.
(and even that doesn't really "help", as much as puts distance to feelings...)
I'm also sorry about all you've been physically (and mentally!) dealing with! Wow, talk about a one-two punch! ~~~~Sending you positive "vibes"~~~
At any rate; you, your intelligence, your talent and your humor have all been VERY sorely missed!
Hope you grow stronger and feel more like creating soon.
Please know that your input to the blogosphere is greatly appreciated. And anticipated.
Yee-haw!

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your mother and your health challenges. I'm happy that you're doing better and that the urge to sew is back. You have been missed. I've visited your sewing room pages a couple of times and wondered if you were ensconced in it happily sewing away - I'm glad that the vision is now a reality.

You were missed and I was happy to see a post from you. I lost my mom, my greatest cheerleader, in December so I can imagine your great sadness. I hope you continue to mend in all ways and I know your great creativity will come bounding back when it is ready. Peace

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your mom, and that you've been plagued with health challenges as well. I hope you continue to mend in your own way at your own pace. Although it is wonderful that you are drawn to your sewing room again, and I am happy that you have posted here, push yourself but gently, and let your spirit flow as it will, in its own time.

Wow, you have had some stuff to deal with. I'm sorry to hear that you lost your mom. Although it can be considered the 'natural order of things' I still count it as one of the worst experiences of my life. Good to hear from you and hope things get a lot better for you soon!

Sharon, my heart aches for all that you've been through. The Ontario ice storm of December 2013 was the start of my Mom's downfall; she died at the end of May 2014. Over time, the emptiness and pain have been soothed with sweet memories. I hope your journey to physical and emotional healing brings you peace. Thank you for posting, it's wonderful to hear from you.

So glad to see you back! I had both of my ovaries removed. I thought I would bounce back right away--and I didn't plus early menopause. When you are feeling great make something white or very light colored for bottoms--there are no worries now!! Kelly in Michigan

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. I went through the BLSPO 6 years ago. I hope yours was as easy as mine, which was because of breast cancer, but at least I'll never have to worry about ovarian. I hope you are well, and I hope you get to sew lots and share with us!

After all these years I still come back now and then to see if you've started to blog again! I loved your sewing blog and I guess there is still a gap that never was filled by anything else! I hope you are doing OK. I had a series of difficult years around the same time that you did, and boy do I relate. And I can also relate if you don't have time to blog anymore. I hope life is good for you now and I wish you all the best.
