Okay, so I know I dropped off the face of the Earth without so much as a "smell ya later." What can I say? Sometimes life gives you lemons, sometimes it gives you lemonade and sometimes it punches you square in the face. I had a couple of face-punching years and blogging was last on my long list of priorities.
I lost my mother very suddenly a year ago. One day I was talking to her about inconsequential things and a week later I had to make the decision to remove her from life support. Maybe someday I'll elaborate on how it all happened, but right now it still feels raw.
I also had a total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, after I was diagnosed with two large (ultimately) benign uterine tumours. Although, I could have had only the tumours removed, I opted to lose all the plumbing since there is a history of uterine, cervical and ovarian cancer in my family. Although I was totally on board with having the surgery, and I now feel better than I have in many years, the recuperation is difficult. Even though it's been almost six months, I'm still dealing with swelling, some discomfort and the difficulty of getting back into shape. But, I will persevere.
So, over the last three years, there was not a lot of sewing going on in the HZC household. Lately, however, I have been feeling the old creative desires reemerging and I have been spending time in my sewing room. I hope to show the fruits of my labours in the near future. So, stay tuned...

Oh you have been through some rough times and still have a way to go, but so glad you are felling a bit better. Take care and lovely to see you again.
"Waving hello". It's good to see you posting again. Please accept my sympathies on the loss of your Mom. To lose her so suddenly....I just can't imagine. I hope your health continues to improve and if you are still teaching, best of luck in the new school year
Wow. That is a lot.
I hope that sewing and blogging will help you recuperate. We've missed you.
You really have been through a lot. I'm glad to hear that you're slowly coming back. You've been missed.
Tough, tough times, Shannon, but it is a delight to see you back in the blogging world. I lost my dad very suddenly and the shock was overwhelming. I am so sorry to hear the news about your mother and hope that happier memories can be a comfort. And also best wishes on your recovery. Ouch, ouch.
Thinking of you at this time Shannon. You have been through a lot. It is good to see you back to blogging again.
I'm so sorry for all the difficult times you've had. You've been missed!
I am very sorry about your Mom. I lost my father very suddenly and can say that as time passes you will remember the happy times and the grief pain gets less. I had to have a complete hysterectomy at the age of 31 due to several issuesd. After the recovery I can say that I felt better than in many years. Best wishes to you. I really enjoy your blog.

So glad to see you back. Life is sometimes the challenge we don't want to face. Give yourself time to heal, physically and otherwise. I can't wait to see your sewing when you feel up to it.

Soon you will be doing the happy dance over having your parts removed.
Rest so you'll feel like posting again. You have been missed.
I hope things start really looking up for you after such tough times. I look forward to seeing some more posts.
So sorry you've been having a tough few years. Glad you have you back and can't wait to see what you make.
Soooo glad to see you back posting Shannon but, at the same time, am so sorry to hear of all you've been dealing with. May you find a bit of respite in that lovely, lovely sewing space and the things you will surely create in it.
My Condolences to you & your family and Glad you are on the mend. Getting back into sewing is a great way to soothe the mind and soul.
Welcome back, it's so good to see you! I'm so very sorry about the loss of your mom, I've been there through the shock of having lunch on Monday and saying a final goodbye on Friday. It's rough. Give yourself time to heal but spend time doing things that bring you joy. I'm sure you'll find yourself feeling more "normal", or adjusting to the "new normal".
I'm so sorry about your mom. That is really a shock to the system, and nothing really helps except for time.
(and even that doesn't really "help", as much as puts distance to feelings...)
I'm also sorry about all you've been physically (and mentally!) dealing with! Wow, talk about a one-two punch! ~~~~Sending you positive "vibes"~~~
At any rate; you, your intelligence, your talent and your humor have all been VERY sorely missed!
Hope you grow stronger and feel more like creating soon.
Please know that your input to the blogosphere is greatly appreciated. And anticipated.
Yee-haw!

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your mother and your health challenges. I'm happy that you're doing better and that the urge to sew is back. You have been missed. I've visited your sewing room pages a couple of times and wondered if you were ensconced in it happily sewing away - I'm glad that the vision is now a reality.
You were missed and I was happy to see a post from you. I lost my mom, my greatest cheerleader, in December so I can imagine your great sadness. I hope you continue to mend in all ways and I know your great creativity will come bounding back when it is ready. Peace
Hello Shannon
I never removed your name from my blog list in the hope that one day you'd reappear. Thank you for coming back, I've missed your updates and your humour. I look forward to reading how you have settled into your amazing house with the purpose built sewing room.
Welcome back and I hope life throws you bunches of roses now.

Welcome back, Shannon. I have thought about you and so I'm grateful for your post. Take it one day at a time. There's one virtual friend in the cornfields of the Midwest wishing you gentle days ahead.
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your mom, and that you've been plagued with health challenges as well. I hope you continue to mend in your own way at your own pace. Although it is wonderful that you are drawn to your sewing room again, and I am happy that you have posted here, push yourself but gently, and let your spirit flow as it will, in its own time.
Wow, you have had some stuff to deal with. I'm sorry to hear that you lost your mom. Although it can be considered the 'natural order of things' I still count it as one of the worst experiences of my life. Good to hear from you and hope things get a lot better for you soon!
Hugs x
Sharon, my heart aches for all that you've been through. The Ontario ice storm of December 2013 was the start of my Mom's downfall; she died at the end of May 2014. Over time, the emptiness and pain have been soothed with sweet memories. I hope your journey to physical and emotional healing brings you peace. Thank you for posting, it's wonderful to hear from you.
I am sorry to hear about the loss of your Mom and your health issues.
It is really nice to see that you are back :)
(hugs) I am so very sorry for your loss. Just wanted to say, even though I wasn't expecting to see anything I still check your blog a few times a year just in case because I really enjoy your writing. Again, so sorry for all you've been through, hope that happy things are in your future.
So glad to see you back! I had both of my ovaries removed. I thought I would bounce back right away--and I didn't plus early menopause. When you are feeling great make something white or very light colored for bottoms--there are no worries now!! Kelly in Michigan
Oh I am so sorry about your Mum and everything else. Thinking of you and hoping you are getting some time for you and your's.
So sorry to hear about the life-changing events you've had to face but happy to hear from you. You have certainly been missed in the sewing blog-o-sphere! Hope you can use your creative outlet to help you find peace.
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. I went through the BLSPO 6 years ago. I hope yours was as easy as mine, which was because of breast cancer, but at least I'll never have to worry about ovarian. I hope you are well, and I hope you get to sew lots and share with us!
So glad you are back!
You have been missed. Hope the healing is progressing, and that you will be able to share your creations again soon
I'm so sorry to hear about your mom and your surgery! Creative urges will come up and get going in its own time. Please take time to grieve and get well.

After all these years I still come back now and then to see if you've started to blog again! I loved your sewing blog and I guess there is still a gap that never was filled by anything else! I hope you are doing OK. I had a series of difficult years around the same time that you did, and boy do I relate. And I can also relate if you don't have time to blog anymore. I hope life is good for you now and I wish you all the best.
Just checking in ro see if you’ve put up another post. Hope you are doing well in these strange times. Abbeysews
