I bought this little lovely from a seller on Etsy (my first Etsy purchase!) and I cannot stop staring at it.
Check out the chicks on the envelope cover. They totally know that this coat is supercalifragilisticexpialidelicious. Notice how none of them will look directly at you. It's because they are better than you. And, how could they not be? Wearing that coat. That fabulous reversible coat. With the full length sleeves and the roll collar that ties in the front.
Could it be any more luscious? Could it?
Now to chose the perfect fabric. Will it be cashmere? Mohair? Camel hair? Wool flannel? Ah, the possibilities...

Well, if it's reversible, you get to choose TWO fabulous fabrics, right! Have fun, I can't wait to see it.
Hope Simon is doing well.
I have a vivid memory of hundred million years ago (probably about 1965), when my mom, my older sister and I went to do the dreaded 'shopping for a new coat.' My sister was just shy of 6' tall, so we had to go into the women's department, which was a curse for her for sure. I remember the coat she ended up with (my role in this affair was to stand there and hold people's coats while they tried on coats..sort of a short, standing coat rack)looked very much like this, though a little bit more sophisticated because the closing was asymetric - it buttoned about 3-4" over to the left so that the scarf ties on the coat actually went over one shoulder. I thought she looked like a movie star - she cried all the way home and refused to wear the coat except on dressy occasions because (all together now), no one she knew at school wore a coat like that.
It is indeed a fabulous looking coat!
I can so totally see you in this coat! Loves it!
ooooh... can't wait to see this one!
I live in the subtropics and I want that coat. It is stunning and you will look amazing in it. I want mine to be red on one side and zebra striped on the other.
I cannot WAIT to see when you make one of these jackets. They are absolutely divine!!!!!
Being in Canada, I guess you'll make the long version. I'm in the south, so I would love to have the short one, in the plaid... of course with the gloves!
Lovely!
Mmmmm, lovely! You'll look fabulous in it - can't wait to see it!
you know what? My mom Made that coat! I remember it, and I remember that pattern. It was red.
You'll be fabulous in it, I know!
Not only am I in awe of your pattern, but that you can spell Mary Poppin's big word!
This is an example of what makes the quest for vintage patterns an obsession! I love it. You will look fab in this style. You seem to be able to pull off the sophisticated look so well.(remembering the Jackie O inspired collection) Now I'm off to look for this pattern for myself!
That is a great coat pattern. I can see it in a soft wool in a fabulous color. I have found some wonderful vintage patterns on Etsy, as well as fabric, trims, buttons, etc. Hope your willpower is better than mine.
All levels of awesome on one pattern....have fun planning.
I liked it, then you mentioned it's reversible and now I *really* like it! Happy fabric shopping! :)
Oh, reversible means you get to pick two fabulous fabrics! YAY!
Ooh, give me anything with a tie or bow around the neck...
Totally gorgeous. I laughed when I read your post, about they being better than we.
Oh wow! If you ever get tired of that, please sell it to me!
I agree. WOW. And yes, they are better than us. Can't wait to see what fabrics you choose. And the finished product!
