The Taming of the Arse - Week 8

Week 8 already?  Wow, time has flown since New Year's Day when my new and improved healthy lifestyle began.

In that time I have managed to lose seven pounds and a bit of body fat.  I can climb stairs now with ease.  My knee, hips and back are feeling fine and I just feel better overall.

My food choices have improved immeasurably.  I have even gotten to the point that sugary candy holds very little appeal for me.  When I do indulge, I go for the good stuff - high end dark chocolate rather than cheap, waxy chocolate bars.

The only issue I have had is with exercise.  I was into a regular exercise routine, but the last two weeks have not been stellar.  Two weeks ago I spent all week recovering from the previous week's field trip - between exhaustion and work demands, my exercise time was very, very limited.  Then, this past week was a write off because of a nasty head cold.  So, I only had three days with exercise over the past two weeks.  However, I am feeling better now, so I will be back on the work out wagon from today onward.

How are the rest of my healthy living buddies doing?

Just so you don't wonder if I will ever post about sewing again.  I have a few finished projects to show you.  It's really just a matter of getting some photos together.  So, stay tuned...

Good on you for keeping at it and getting back on the exercise horse - so to speak.. I have not been as good as you and have fallen off the wagon. I will have to climb back on.

I can't believe week 8 has come and gone. However, week 8 was not a stellar week, I worked out 3 days.. only excuse... I was lazy. It would've been 2 days, but my daughter dragged me out of my slump this morning. She needs to improve on her PT and asked if I would walk/jog with her on the weekend.. so today was a start... we did 2.2 miles under an hour. New experience for mean in that all the years I have been on/off the exercise wagon, I've never exercised outdoors. My body & mind battled with 30 degree temps, noise and the terrain... body shock. It took all of the morning to recover and finally feeling better. This week I will do 3 days of aerobic and walk/jog on Saturday & Sunday... crossing eyes, toes & fingers week 9 is better.

I did pretty well with exercise this week. I walked the kids to school Wednesday through Friday (pushing the stroller uphill the whole way there at a good pace). Then Saturday I mostly walked a 5K. We did jog a little. Walking may not seem like much, but its a great start! As far as eating- not such a great week. I was craving sugar like crazy for a few days. That's how it goes, I guess.

For me, if I'm exercising, I naturally eat better (because I don't want to cancel the workout I just sweated my butt off doing!), so Friday, Saturday, and Sunday mornings I hit the treadmill for 2.5 miles in 30 minutes. My hip tends to be sore after, so I'm take "Move Free" and it's helped so much!

Workouts and the C25K are continuing on schedule, but alas, the healthy eating has gone completely off the rails. I do have a health "procedure" induced liquid diet this week, so maybe that will encourage me to eat healthier (if I can see a pound or 2 drop off).

I am gradually learning to be modest in my indulgences. Every time I miss a few days of exercise and eat too much, it is ridiculously hard to get through a workout. So, I am doing better.
I am still at the same weight for the last month, though!
But hey, I can't complain. I am in better shape now that I have been over the last couple of years.
It is a dedicated process.

Good for you Shannon! You have done very well. Things like a cold or a trip will always pop up, so it's great that you are in better shape, even with those difficulties.

Way to go, and keep it up! I'm starting on my 4th week of BeachBody's Insanity. Yesterday I felt like the tin man when he was rusting up. SO SORE. Today is only slightly better, but it's my day off so I can take it easy. I seriously hate this program. I can hardly wait to return to my turbofire workouts in one month. Why don't I quit now? I want to know if I can finish it, and I want to say that I finished it.
I have a terrible time with the eating lately. My mother in law keeps sending us her delicious cookies (my favorite ones that I could seriously eat all day), so until they are gone, I'm at a loss.
I'm really looking forward to seeing your newest projects!

at least you have positive progress and they say little is better than a lot. my 2 week work trip resulted in a small gain, and then between Saturday and Wednesday I hardly ate a thing - Sat soup only, Sunday no food at all, Monday hospital for surgery - first food Tuesday and only small portions since - I am praying for a reduction on Monday.
