Pattern Lust

The new offering of Vogue patterns has me happy, happy, happy! I love the two new Vintage Vogues (duh!) and what can I say about the Chado Ralph Rucci patterns? Considering Rucci is my absolute favourite modern-day designer, you could have knocked me over with a feather when I saw the two patterns. I just hope Vogue keeps producing more patterns from him. Here's all my favs:

1043

1044

1048

1054

On the SWAP front, not surprisingly, not much has gotten done in the last couple of weeks. I still have a top and skirt combo to get done, as well as a fully interlined and lined outerwear coat. I will be amazed if I manage to get it all done by April 11th (the deadline), but I am going to try. I didn't come this far to give up now! I still have a few other finished garments to show you all and hopefully over the next few days I will find the time to write up those posts.

On the Mom front, she is doing very well. She has almost all the strength back in the left arm and hand - she was so excited the other day because she cut her own meat at dinner time, which is something she has been unable to do in months. She has walked the hall and has gone up and down stairs, all by herself (although the nurse or PT was very nearby). The pain in her head is subsiding and she has been in great spirits, so it looks like the surgery was a complete success and she is well on the path to a full recovery. We are hoping to get her into a respite centre (there is one just around the corner from where I live) for a few weeks until she feels more stable - going home to a multi-level house is not happening just yet. So, things are looking up!

Bravo!! Great news about your mother.

Very happy to hear the good news about your mother.
Such things are far more important than sewing or a deadline for a contest. But now she is recovering her health you'll probably have more rest to try some sewing again.
Good luck on finishing your beautiful garments on time.

It's great to hear that your mom is doing better. Here's hoping that she continues in her recovery and is good as new soon!

Such great news. She sounds like a spirited lady.

I'm certain you'll find some sort of balance with the sewing - it would be great to finish for 11th, but you need to sleep too!

Somebody else has blogged about those vintage reprints, they're fab, but the white dress I hadn't seen, interesting.

May the sewing force be with you ;-)
Cheers,
AJ

PS I sewed a seam on a bag today, that is the first actual sewing I've done in 6 months. I'm not better, just getting more assistance. 10 mins once a week? It'll add up, I hope.

Definitely good to hear about your mom. And don't stress about the sewing-- deadlines are good, but what's been going on in your family is more important.

Great news about your mom and that she's going to be close by! Yes, I love those patterns, I almost bought one of the originals on eBay a few weeks ago. Now, I'm kicking myself for not doing it! I do like the Rucci dress, too.

Shannon, I'm so glad to hear the news about your mom. I've been thinking of you and checking back every day for an update. I'm happy to hear that things are still on the right track.

Love the patterns that you liked. I'm really glad to see designs by Rucci, too.

so glad to hear your mom is doing better. It is so difficult to deal with the illness of a loved one. It looks like things are, indeed, looking up for you

So happy to hear how well your mom is doing! I'm so glad!! Can't wait to see the swap entries, but no worries if you don't finish on time. You've had so much on your plate this month! What you DO finish will be spectacular and that's awful fun too.

Off to look at the new Vogue's!!

Shannon, that's wonderful news about your mom. Hope she continues to show progress and will be able to be out of the hospital soon. A contest is just that and not as important as family. However, if anyone can get it done, you can. I'm rooting for you.

Shannon,
That's great news about your Mom! I'm so happy for you and your whole family!
I’ve been enjoying your blog for almost a year – I’m sorry that I’ve done more lurking than commenting to let you that I’m part of your regular audience. In any event, I recently got an “Excellent Blog” award, and an obligation to pass it on to other excellent blogs. Yours was one of the first that came to mind! If you would like to accept it, you can find it here:

Take care,

I was first sad to read about your mother, but now I'm so happy for you that things are going well.

All the patterns are gorgeous, but with my body I think 1048 would be my pick... if I had long slender arms, that is :0
