The Taming of the Arse - Week 3

Week three is all wrapped up and all I can say is that I'm glad it's over!

I started the week by over-eating, due to the monthly surge of hormones.  Is anyone else completely unable to say no to chocolate for around two days a month?  Please tell me it's not just me.

Also, there has been a stomach flu going around school lately and usually I am immune to those nasty little buggers.  Usually.  Not this time though.  By the end of the week, I had it.  Apparently Mother Nature felt strongly that I should do a cleanse.  So, I had to go with the flow (snarf!  flu humour - hilarious!).

And the timing on this sickness could not have been worse. This is the end of the semester, so I'm finishing up classes and putting together final exams.  Busy, busy, busy.  No time time for this crap (again, with the flu humour!).

All this meant that I was only able to exercise  two days this week.  However, I did eat healthy most of the days (except for the days I didn't really eat).

So, when it was all averaged out, I actually came out ahead...or behind - I guess it depends on how you look at it.  Regardless, I am down another pound (for a grand total of five pounds lost in 2012).  Yay, me!

So, fess up folks.  How did your week pan out?  Down a pound?  Up a pound?  Still working out?  Sitting on the couch with a bag of Fritos?  C'mon, tell me all about it.

Well done! :)
I joined the gym on Tuesday and I LOVE it! I've always hated exercise, but if I set the machine for a 20 minute workout, I *have* to finish it. I've become competitive with myself. lol
I had a sneaky weigh in this morning (Wednesday should be my weigh in day, but I couldn't wait that long) and I'm down a pound too! I can't wait till Wednesday so I can weigh myself properly :)
And yes, I get those 2 days a month too!

The one good thing about middle age is you don't have those two days a month calling you to indulge. But on the flip side, you have no hormones so losing weight is next to impossible. Can't win! I do exercise though, and try to eat healthy most of the time.

Ohh drats, a cold does not mix well with exercising. At least you got in 2 days and hoping you feel better soon. You are not alone when it comes to chocolate while the hormones are raging. I am normally not a chocolate eater, but when the urge appears.. I must get a snicker bar or two.

Week 3 was successful and did 5 days still switching between the slim in 6 dvds. Eating was good also and trying to consume more fruit. My aches & pains for now are in remission and must admit I feel energized and motivated.

So on to week 4.... stay motivated.

I can sympathize! A funeral and a birthday in the same week meant too much comfort food! I found the reset button though, and am back on track! I have finals this week too, so best of luck with the end of semester 1 and the start of semester 2!

Well done. Sorry about the flu, but you crack me up with the flu humor!

I've been eating low-carb for months and months now and when those urges strike, I grab an Atkins bar from the freezer. Chocolate craving is satisfied without guilt, for only 2g net carbs, and lots of good-for-me protein which actually fills me up so I don't want anything else. And being frozen, it takes longer to eat. I've also been really loving crunchy almond butter on a spoon. For some reason, my mouth and mind register it as chocolate. Similar smooth texture, and the crunchy bits make me feel like I'm eating something bad for me, when I'm not.

With the weather so bad here it was impossible to get out and walk so that led to comfort eating. I know from my sneak preview on the scales that I had remained the same.

I had the flu the 3rd of January and it set me on my backside for just under 48 hours.

Hope you have another great week.

Down a pound this week! My employer has instituted an exercise program before the start of each work day. Alot of grumbling from the minions, but I think it's great to get paid for something I should be doing anyway on my own time!!! Also we adopted another Pom, so daily walks are the order of the day as well! Chocolate is not my downfall...salt is, which I think may be worse than chocolate in terms of fluis retention. At least you can claim the antioxidant points! :)

I'm down 2.5 pounds this week, and have discovered that, for this second week in a row with a 2 pound loss, the more I eat, within reason, the more I lose. That's fabulous news for my chocolate attacks!

Congratulations on the weight loss except for the flu part. Me, I'm with Gwen. Here on the (very) far side of fifty it is almost impossible to diet, but I do try to exercise. My employer started charging even us professors for parking, which is helping me stick to my bicycle commuting!

Good for you! Sad for me as I am still sitting on the couch! Must get up and MOVE. I think I am finding the pounds you are losing. My big problem is chips and nuts (salted of course) and cheese and cream. Don't mind chocolate but don't crave it. Your weight loss and the comments from others on the blog might just inspire me to get off the couch.

Down about 1.5 pounds for the week, so down 7 for the year. This post 50 dieting is HARD! I keep waiting for my system to adjust to smaller meals, it used to take about 2 weeks. Um, maybe NEXT week?

Great success so far in 2012! No weight loss here, but have been keeping up with my workouts and Zumba classes. This week was a bust as I have this nasty cold that's been making the rounds (fortunately the flu skipped me) so the workouts and healthy eating flew out the window.

well done on your weight loss - as they say every pound counts, but horrible you have the flu when you are so busy - very frustrating.

My weigh in is tomorrow, but I hope to see a loss, but doubt it will be more than a pound but will report tomorrow on my blog weigh-in day.

OK Shannon. You've got me going. I'm off the couch with the fritos and watching my carbs again. I'm sure my winter insulation will begin to shed immediately.

This week was a tough one for me eating wise, though I didn't do THAT bad. Just no writing it all down, which means a few more bites of this and that. I'm in that over 50 group and yes, it is really really hard.

On the good side though, I finished week one of the couch to 5K, and went on a hike today, and my clothes are fitting better, so I'm totally crediting the exercise and running.

The flu decided to hit our house last week! As in Influenza A. That wasn't fun. I hear you about the chocolate 2 days a month! You definitely aren't alone in that. I gained a pound this week. I'm not sure how. I ate completely healthy. I'm wondering if I'm not getting enough calories? Who knows.

Sorry about the flu - it's so hard to get up and do what you have to do when you feel that horrible. Hope you feel better.

Well that stinks to get sick at a busy time, but glad you made it through. I've done better on watching overall caloric intake. I really like to eat salads and other low calorie foods, so that I will have a little leeway for ice cream. But I have switched from the the really crazy fattening flavors to orange sherbet with vanilla ice cream, which has way less calories.
Still exercising and and maintaining, but I would like to break this plateau and lose more.
At least all the exercise is paying off & feeling toned.

ok- I caved and ended up gaining 3 of the 4 pounds I had lost.
I am so upset with myself and going to jump back on the bandwagon.
still have not exercised though.
