Better than Lithium

I have not been the usual productive me the last few months.  I haven't felt like sewing or blogging or doing much of anything.  Besides being sick constantly with a string of colds and a bout with the flu, I have been lazy and a tiny bit depressed.  Not clinically depressed or anything, just not my normal, bouncing-off-walls, energy-to-burn, spazztastic self.

Well, I want to throw off the shackles of apathy and get back down to business.  In order to kick start my return to the land of the stitcher, I have finished my cowl neck dress (pictures will follow very soon) and I have started work on a coat for Hartley.

And I have purchased fabric.

What better way to salve a broken creative soul than to slather it with the tools of the trade?  Nothing gets my juices flowing more than some new fabric and Fabric Mart was very obliging by placing their wares on sale.  So, I imbibed.

I mean, really, how could I resist these gorgeous Armani suiting fabrics?

Or these fabulous boucles, which will transform into pretty jackets?

Or these luscious bamboo knits that can be whipped up into amazing new tops?

Or these Cache ponte knits that are so excellent for some comfy winter dresses?

oh you purchased a lot of what I've been drooling over...*sigh* I'm trying so hard to not purchase another piece until the new year! I really hope this kickstarts your sewing because I've really missed seeing your wonderful creations!

I absolutely LOVE the colors you choose. Consistently.
I do hope that lifts you from your doldrums.
I totally understand and sympathize greatly, however. When it's dark as I get up, and dark at 3:30 in the afternoon, I just don't have much oomph for anything. Feh.

But COLOR! COLOR helps so much! (erm, well, color AND light...) (and possibilities...)

Those are the loveliest of fabrics. And certainly, working one of them up into a beautiful garment is a sure way to life one's mood. I can't wait to see what you create.

You've chosen some great fabrics. Don't worry about the lack of productivity - sometimes it's like that. You've had a lot going on this year. Once you make that first garment, you'll be right back there.

2010 was quite a year for you. I hope you'll feel a lot better when January 1st comes around. I get in a funk myself from time to time. Events can spark it, a bout of ill health like you have had, or sometimes nothing at all. But get the machine humming and look forward to spring. I read somewhere that January is a lot closer to spring than September. Never thought of it that way but it goes with the- if winter comes, can spring be far behind?...train of thought.

sorry to hear about your recent malaise, but it's understandable. Our creativity doesn't exist in a vacuum. You bought some great fabrics, some of those I purchased before the sale, and I bought more during the sale. So much fabric goodness. :)

I like your therapy methods :-). It's not you, respiratory illnesses do leave one barely able to lie on the couch, it's normal physiology, your body doesn't want to risk boosting the oxygen consumption with activity..

Meh, I've been in a funk too. Same thing...exhausted, bouts of sick, and just plain old ho-hums. I'm ready to get back in the swing of things too!

Yes, I think there is a funk illness going around. I have had a bad case of it. I'm starting to get over it by just looking at your gorgeous fabric purchases!
