A Sense of Community

Over the last few days I have been overwhelmed by the kindness of the online community. All the words of support have been a welcome comfort - both from established friends and from wonderful new friends. I am still waiting for the definitive word on Simon's tumours. When I know the final results, I will post about it.

I would be remiss if I didn't single out one person in particular - Gaylen. Not only did she bestow upon me the Nemo's Award, she also wrote a lovely entry on her blog, asking for fellow animal lovers to send out positive karma to Simon. Fittingly, the award is "a dedication for those who love blogging and love to encourage friendships through blogging" and it requires that I "write the reason why I love blogging."

I have come to realize that blogging has introduced me to a wonderful community of like-minded individuals - women who share a passion for the same things that I enjoy. Not only that, but the people that I have made contact with through blogging are some of the kindest, warm-hearted ladies. I am truly lucky.

Like the others, I thought of you today as I was taking care of Molly, who was feeling a little under the weather. She had a tick on her belly this morning(it's tick season) and even though I checked her last night and she had not been outside since yesterday afternoon, it was there. I missed it and it had been on her all night. DH has taken her to the beach for a swim, but I know she will want me to send her good wishes as well as mine. Take care of each other.

Friends are the support that help us get through the rough spots in life. Give Simon a hug and a little scratch behind the ears from me!! Keep us posted.

Hi Shannon,
It's nice to know that our words of encouragement help you. I was so attached to my dogs as I know you are with Simon. Maybe it's the unconditional love that they give but I can't think of anyone going through what you are without filling up. It's a rough time. hang in there.

We just got a new dog (7 year old beagle) last month, and already I couldn't imagine life without him. I'll be thinking about you and Simon a lot in the days to come. Best wishes.
