Comments: Good ole Hepburn pants again, but this time I opted for the cropped version. As I've said before, I realize that all the image consultants say that short gals shouldn't wear cropped pants because it makes us look stumpy(er). A longer pant is always suggested as it's more likely to fool the observer into seeing a long, tall line. Well, I got news for ya - I'm short and you can dress me in pants to the floor made out of pinstripe fabric and then get me to strap on 6" heels and I will still be short. So, sometimes I just toss out what's "best" and opt for what makes me happy - hence, cropped pants.

I have also made the top in the past - well, sort of. I had actually made a dress, but the bias cut did my pear shaped figure no favours, so I hacked off the bottom and hemmed it up into a top. So, this time I went straight for the top pattern. Unfortunately, as it's designed, the top pattern is quite short - too short for my liking if I turned up the recommended hem. So, I used hem tape and turned up a scant 1/2" hem to get as much length as I could. Next time I make this top, I will be adding 3" to the bottom.

Conclusion: I love this colour combo. I can't seem to get enough of it lately. I also love these two patterns, so I'm a happy lass!

you're right, those colours are amazing together. And another great version of the Hepburns, I'm looking forward to making them myself.

Rules are made to be broken! I do it all the time...fashionably of course ;D.

Those crop pants look great on you! Love the color combo too. Teal and brown is a favorite of mine also.

The color combo is great. Thanks for the info that the top is short. I have that pattern and keep meaning to make it. Now I know to add length. g

As another 'stumperific' person, I'm with you there. I can match shoes, hose, dress and I look..like the librarian in my junior high school, from the mid 60s. I can match shoes, long boot cut pants and..I'm still 5'2" - the only thing that helps is NOT standing next to tall people. Great color combo - one of my favs.

This is another great addition to your summer wardrobe! The colors are awesome together. You look great. I'm with ya'on all those rules for short people. Hey, I'm barely over 5' and look short regardless of what I do.

Another great outfit - I agree with you about the cropped pants, if you are short, you are short! Wearing long pants might change someones perception of your height from a distance, but when they stand next to you, you won't be any taller Lol!
I still haven't weakened and ordered the Hepburn pants pattern, I am still unsure about the elastic waist and fact that it looks like a ruffle - I tend to wear fitted tops to accentuate my waist and wonder if it would look bulky?
They look great on you though :-)

I am short too. I like cropped pants and heard the same thing about making short people shorter. So be it, like you I want to wear what makes me happy. Great top and pants, love the color combo.

I think you look very much in proportion and stylish in your cropped pants.

Good color combo. The proportions are fine on you and it's a lot cooler than long pants.

Well, of course you can't get enough of that color combination -- you look fabulous in it! And the cropped pants are great on you, too. I suppose it's that the proportions are right. (I've been reading that NONE of us should be wearing cropped pants, but I'm never going to give them up. Never, never, never.)

Gosh--you have been busy! I love all of your combos--great separates and good for some mixing too. I vote for some sort of crop pants as well. Living in a warm climate makes one choose some style and some comfort--I'm not so tall either!

Love the colors and inspiration for some imitation!

I took a break from all of my blog reading. Now I am back and I see you have been very busy! I'm inspired :) Oh, and I'm impressed by how much nail polish you have! I "only" have 2 shoeboxes worth.. LOL

This colour combination is stunning. My bedroom walls are a similar brown and I have been toying with various colours to add to bring it to life and I think this teal/jade colour is perfect! Some pillows, a lamp and a few candles in this colour will really lift it. Thanks for the unexpected inspiration!
