Comments: I have had this S5197 tunic cut out and ready to go for over two years, but it just sat in my to-do pile unloved and ignored. Well I finally felt bad enough about allowing it to languish for so long and decided to sew it up. Unfortunately in the interim, I managed to lose the instructions. Not a tragedy, but irksome none the less. So, I did it my way and made it up as I went along! It turned out well - the slits at the cuff and sides of the hem, as well as the collar are cute design features.

The cropped pants are simply shortened Loes Hinse Oxfords (which is one of my TNT pant patterns). Although I'll be the first one to admit that cropped pants can make those of us that are vertically challenged look all the more stumpy, I'm okay with it. Cropped pants are cool and comfortable in the summer for occasions when shorts are inappropriate. Normally for these circumstances, I turn to a skirt, but a girl likes to have options, ya know?

Conclusion:
I was looking for a comfortable, casual outfit to wear for a day out shopping or visiting with friends. I think I got it!

I'm 4'11" and prefer cropped pants..it's a nicer alternative to having hemlines dragging on the floor or getting stuck under your shoes.

I like to deliberately shorten flare leg pants into a cropped style. I think that if the thighs are tapered appropriately and the flare is moved up to the correct location on a shorter leg, it creates an allusion of height instead of looking stumpy.

I avoid flare leg full length pants and dreaded bell bottoms because I think that if you are under 5'3" they just make you look like you are sinking into the ground. But, if you get the flare in proportion to the knee and crop it above the ankle it looks ok.

Cute outfit - I just finished something similar, a scoop neck bell sleeve tunic and boot leg pants (full length, though, for fall/winter).

Very nice outfit and so very comfy looking. Hope you in Ontario are getting better weather than we in New Brunswick. Odd weather no :} ??
Not sure from day to day if you need fall-ish or summer-ish outfits :)

Nice outfit. Doesn't it feel good when you complete those UFO's?

I love this color combo, in fact, I have one planned if summer doesn't run out on me. I am taller than you, but heavier, so I always go back and forth on wearing cropped pants. But, they are cooler and they look nice on you with the heels.

I agree with what Kerry said about cropped pants adding length when they are shaped correctly. I think you have managed it very well with this pair. I still can't bring myself to wear them though. I really like the tunic. The colour is perfect for you.

I1ve been looking forward to seeing your simplicity tunic as I have made this pattern too. It is one of my favourites on a hot Australian day. Yours looks like it was worth the wait. Janine

Shannon, nice outfit. I don't think the cropped pant makes you look stumpy at all. Although I do find that after a couple of months of wearing the cut off pants, full length feels strange. I'll have to make a tunic. I love yours and Lindsay T's. It's a stylish look.

I love this outfit on you. It looks comfortable, but also very chic. I think I could go for something like this. Also, the dress in the last post is very flattering on you. Perfect combination of pattern and fabric.

Again, great looking outfit! It has a certain oriental hint IMO, which I'm very fond of!
