Givin' Fall My All

Am I the only one that is dying to start some fall sewing? Since my summer vacation started three weeks ago, I have barely done any warm weather sewing yet. However, my mind has turned to thoughts of crisp autumn days, rustling leaves and oodles of wool, cashmere and silk. Aah, transition sewing - I can't get enough of it.

I think the real reason why fall is on my mind is because the weather around here has been so odd. Usually by now we have a bunch of days that are evil, humid scorchers, but so far, the temperatures have been pleasant. Now, don't get me wrong, cool and crisp in the morning, warm and breezy in the afternoon is pretty much ideal. However, temperate weather does not make the thought of touching wool deplorable. Hence, my desire to bust out the jacket patterns.

On that front, I could not resist picking up a few bajillion Vogues (and maybe a couple Buttericks and McCalls too) during the big Club BMV members sale.

So, any of these float your boat too?

The Badgeley-Mischka in row 2 (love that blouse!) and the 1st Donna Karan in row 3 (I have a thing for cowl necks)! I agree with you on the weather, no complaint here either! And yes, I have fall sewing on my mind, too. I return to school/work in 6 weeks, and while my closet is packed with spring/summer stuff, there is very little in the way of fall/winter.

I just love that Michael Kors sheath. Can't figure out where I'd where it, but I'll make something up. :-)

Yep--love all of them! Fall/winter sewing is my favorite. I live in MI, and in fact "I can see Canada from my house", and that's the absolute truth. I can see it right now! Whatever weather is going on there, we get soon after. It really has been a cool summer, so far, which is just fine with me.

Yep, I got all of those and then some. Let's just say I was very piggy with the fall patterns from Vogue. Hopefully they have something left for someone else!

Did you buy all of those? Well, if anyone is up to that much great sewing it's you. I do like the Michael Kors and the DK jacket is a winner. Most of the suits and dresses though are just not for my lifestyle.

Beautiful choices! Love all those structured styles. Those would pretty much complete a closet.

I own a purple coat close to the Donna Karan one. What catches my eye is the Tracy Reese Fuchsia jacket. Just love all those pleats in the back.

Vogue really did well with this collection I got most of your patterns and a few others.

Please...I'm pulling fabric and making a supplies list for my fall sewing list which is already made up! So yes, I guess I'm ready to start sewing fall but I'm waiting until September when I go on vacation. Knowing that I have a start date is making me less antsy to get started. BTW, I got the BM suit and the Anne Klein coat too!

The DKNY coat in row 3 is very intriguing - but I'm trying to figure out exactly what material was used.

Great picks! I see some of my favorites in your list!

Fall is starting to sing on my years too...

Had to laugh about "fall" sewing. We are celebrating today because we have a high of ONLY 96 degrees after 9 straight days of 100+ temps. No, just the thought of sewing wool makes me sweat!

I think Vogue is finally back on track. I love the Mischa Bagdely, the Michael Kors and the Tracy Reese. I really like the others but not sure I could wear them.

They're all fantastic, but I particularly love the Donna Karan ones. Pity none of these will be available in Australia for another six months! At least by then you will have made and reviewed them for me.

I was thinking the exact same thing as thornberry - except i am in NZ! On the one hand I envy that you have these patterns ahead of us (OK, Icould mail order them, I know) but then again, we get to see what fantastic garments you all make and can pick and choose our faves!
Although I like them all, most of them wouldn't suit my lifestyle, but the last two Very Easy ones I particularly like - the cowl neck top and those pants with the short jacket - now I can see that outfit being on my list as a 'special' outfit for winter!

I bought some of the same ones as you. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with them. It's so inspiring to see what others do because it is usually so very different to what I visualise and I find it very, very inspiring. We only get about six weeks of cold weather here, but I still enjoy cooler climate sewing.

I need to have some drive to sew fall clothes. I have so many summer clothes and desperately need to get going on the fall. I love the many pattern particularly the last.
